Bập Bùng

A sample scene from the early development phase of the Marou comic book project.

The illustration was created while exploring visual tone and storytelling style — it was one of the first proposals meant to set the opening scene, in which a pilot crash-lands on a mysterious island, igniting the journey that follows.

We often referred to it as “Bập Bùng”, a Vietnamese phrase that evokes the flickering of fire — an image that captured the tension, the uncertainty, and the smoldering sense of something about to begin.

This direction wasn’t selected for the final adaptation, but it remains a quiet ember from a spark that once felt promising.
